Scotland national cricket team have announced their squad for the upcoming white-ball tour of Namibia, making notable changes following their participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India in February.
Ahead of fixtures against Oman and Namibia, the selectors have omitted two members of the T20 World Cup squad. Tom Bruce and Michael Alexander Jones have not been included in the squad for the multi-format assignment.
New faces and returns in the squad
Scotland are scheduled to play two ODIs each against Oman and Namibia in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 2024/27 (CWCL2) between April 2 and 12 at the Wanderers Cricket Ground. The tour will conclude with a three-match T20I series against the hosts at the same venue.
For this series, the selectors have brought in Owen Gould, who captained Scotland at the U19 World Cup 2024, along with Essex seamer Mackenzie Jones.
Richie Berrington will continue to lead the side in both formats.
The 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batter earns his first senior call-up after featuring in just one List-A match and has yet to debut in First-Class or T20 cricket. Meanwhile, the 6ft 5in Essex fast bowler has already represented Scotland in both ODIs and T20Is.
Allrounder Chris McBride, who has 22 international appearances, has also been recalled. Nineteen-year-old Zainullah Ihsan will join the squad for the three T20Is only, while Mackenzie Jones has been named specifically for the four CWCL2 ODIs.

Scotland’s Late Entry into T20 World Cup 2026
Scotland had initially failed to qualify for the tournament through the qualifiers but were granted a late spot in Group C after Bangladesh national cricket team withdrew due to safety concerns.
During the group stage, Scotland pushed both the West Indies cricket team and England cricket team, while registering a win over tournament debutants Italy. However, they suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Nepal in Mumbai.
Experienced campaigners such as Berrington, George Munsey, Michael Leask, Brandon McMullen and Brad Currie played prominent roles as the Associate nation challenged higher-ranked opponents.
Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the tournament are approaching. South Africa national cricket team will meet New Zealand national cricket team in Kolkata on Wednesday, while India take on England in Mumbai on Thursday.
