The IPL 2026 Eliminator between the Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad turned into a historic night because of one player, 15-year old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The young batter played one of the most destructive innings ever seen in IPL history and completely changed the match within a few overs.

The game at New Chandigarh had huge pressure on both teams because the losing side would be knocked out of the tournament. However, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi IPL 2026 heroics ensured that Rajasthan Royals stayed alive in the competition.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Match Winning Knock Stuns SRH

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals needed a strong start. What they got from Vaibhav was beyond imagination. The teenager attacked from the very first over and gave no chance to the SRH bowlers to settle.

He smashed 97 runs in just 29 balls with a strike rate above 330. His innings included 5 fours and 12 massive sixes. The SRH bowling attack looked helpless as the youngster kept clearing the boundary again and again.

One of the biggest highlights of the innings was his powerplay hitting. Vaibhav smashed 8 sixes inside the first six overs, which became a new IPL record. Even experienced bowlers and captain Pat Cummins had no answer to his fearless batting.

The Vaibhav Sooryavanshi match-winning knock almost became the fastest century in IPL history. He reached his fifty in only 16 balls, which equalled Suresh Raina’s record for the fastest playoff fifty. Fans were expecting him to break Chris Gayle’s famous 30-ball hundred record, but he was dismissed for 97 while trying another big shot.

Even though he missed the century, his innings pushed Rajasthan Royals to a huge total of 243 for 8.

Records Broken by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

The young batter rewrote several records during this unbelievable innings. He became the player with the most sixes in a single IPL season with 65 sixes, going past Chris Gayle’s record of 59.

He also set the record for the most sixes in an IPL playoff innings with 12 maximums. Vaibhav finished the season with 680 runs and became the highest run scorer by an uncapped player in IPL history.

Another major achievement was becoming the first teenager to score more than 600 runs in a T20 tournament. His incredible season has made him one of the biggest stars of IPL 2026.

SRH Fall Apart in the Chase

Chasing 244 in a knockout game was always going to be difficult. Rajasthan Royals bowlers made sure SRH never came close to the target.

Jofra Archer destroyed the SRH top order by dismissing Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan early in the innings. Those wickets completely changed the game.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora tried to fight back, but the required run rate kept increasing. SRH were finally bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs.

Rajasthan Royals won the match by 47 runs and moved into Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans.

Cricket World Left in Awe

After the match, cricket legends praised the teenager for his fearless approach. Chris Gayle called him the IPL’s new six machine, while AB de Villiers praised his calmness under pressure at such a young age.

Vaibhav himself remained humble after the match. He said his focus was only on helping the team score maximum runs and that centuries would come in the future.

The IPL 2026 Eliminator will be remembered for many years, mainly because of the night Vaibhav Sooryavanshi announced himself as cricket’s next superstar.
