India A lifted the Tri-Nation Series title after defeating Sri Lanka A by 66 runs in a high-scoring final in Dambulla. The victory was inspired by a sensational innings from teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose explosive 29-ball 94 rewrote the record books and laid the foundation for a commanding total.

The young batter produced one of the most remarkable innings ever seen in List A cricket, reaching his half-century in just 11 deliveries. The knock established a new record for the fastest fifty in List A history, surpassing the previous mark of 12 balls set by Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne in 2005.

Coming into the final after a series of promising starts, Sooryavanshi made an immediate impact. He attacked from the very first ball and sent his opening five deliveries to the boundary. By the time he was dismissed in the ninth over, India A had raced to 132 runs, with the teenager contributing 94 of them.

His breathtaking innings included ten fours and eight sixes. Sooryavanshi looked set to challenge the record for the fastest List A century before falling to Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige while attempting another big hit. Despite missing out on three figures, his innings completely transformed the contest and left Sri Lanka A chasing the game from the outset.

While Sooryavanshi provided the fireworks, the rest of the India A batting unit ensured the platform was not wasted. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma steadied the innings after his dismissal with an 84-run partnership for the third wicket. Gaikwad contributed 40, while Tilak anchored the middle overs with 67 from 90 deliveries.

India A appeared on course for a total exceeding 400, but a cluster of wickets in the latter stages slowed their momentum. However, Anukul Roy provided a crucial late surge, smashing 39 from just 15 balls with four sixes. Vipraj Nigam added another quick cameo of 27 as India A eventually posted an imposing 377 for 9.

Sri Lanka A required a strong start in reply but never fully recovered after losing key wickets early. Fast bowler Yash Thakur struck crucial blows by removing Niroshan Dickwella, Avishka Fernando and Nuwanidu Fernando to leave the hosts under pressure.

Sadeera Samarawickrama attempted to rebuild the innings with a fluent 52 from 44 deliveries, but debutant Ashok Sharma produced an impressive spell and dismissed him just as he looked ready to accelerate.

Wanuja Sahan fought hard for Sri Lanka A with a determined 62 from 69 balls and kept his side in contention through a valuable partnership with Vijaykanth Viyaskanth. However, India A’s spinners eventually regained control of the contest.

Anukul Roy once again played a decisive role by breaking the dangerous partnership and later removing Sahan. Vipraj Nigam and Yash Thakur both finished with three wickets, while Roy’s all-round contribution proved vital in closing out the match.

Sri Lanka A were eventually bowled out for 311 in the 48th over, handing India A a comfortable victory and the series title.

Although several India A players made important contributions throughout the final, the match will be remembered primarily for Sooryavanshi’s extraordinary innings. His record-breaking fifty, fearless strokeplay and ability to dominate experienced bowlers highlighted why he is regarded as one of India’s brightest young talents.

At just a young age, Sooryavanshi has already etched his name into the record books, and his stunning 29-ball 94 will be remembered as one of the most explosive innings in List A cricket history.
