Rajasthan Royals secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings, chasing down 128 with ease in their IPL 2026 clash.

After restricting CSK to 127, RR rode on a stunning half-century from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to complete the chase with significant overs to spare.

CSK Collapse Continues

Chennai Super Kings endured another difficult outing with the bat, slipping to 41 for 4 in the powerplay before being bowled out for 127.

The Guwahati surface offered early assistance, having spent time under covers, and RR capitalised after opting to bowl first. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger led the early charge, using disciplined lengths to dismantle the top order.

Burger struck first by dismissing Sanju Samson, while Archer removed Ruturaj Gaikwad with a sharp delivery. The early damage left CSK struggling to recover.

Ayush Mhatre fell for a golden duck attempting an aggressive shot, and Matthew Short departed soon after, leaving CSK at 38 for 4 inside six overs.

Jadeja Strikes Against Former Side

Ravindra Jadeja, facing his former team, made an immediate impact with the ball. He picked up two wickets in his opening over, removing Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube to deepen CSK’s troubles.

He finished with figures of 2 for 18 and later remarked, “pink looks good on me”.

At one stage, CSK were in danger of a sub-100 total, but Jamie Overton’s 43 from 36 balls helped lift them to 127. He shared a 33-run stand with Anshul Kamboj, the highest last-wicket partnership for CSK.

Sooryavanshi Lights Up the Chase

Rajasthan’s chase was defined by Sooryavanshi’s explosive innings. After being dropped on the first ball, he responded with an aggressive approach, striking five sixes.

He raced to a 15-ball half-century, placing him among the fastest fifty-makers in IPL history. Only Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Pat Cummins and Romario Shepherd have recorded quicker fifties.

Sooryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 52 off 17 balls, with Anshul Kamboj taking two wickets in quick succession to remove him and Dhruv Jurel.

Comfortable Finish for RR

Despite those breakthroughs, Rajasthan remained in control. Yashasvi Jaiswal (38*) and captain Riyan Parag (14*) guided the team home without further trouble.

The result marked a dominant start for Rajasthan Royals, while CSK’s batting struggles continued into the new season.
