Jofra Archer delivered a remarkable all-round performance to guide Rajasthan Royals to a 30-run win over Mumbai Indians, securing their place in the IPL 2026 playoffs.

In a must-win clash at the Wankhede Stadium, Rajasthan overcame early setbacks with the bat before Archer’s late surge and decisive bowling display ensured their progression to the knockout stage.

Archer Turns the Game

Promoted to No. 7, Archer played a key role in shifting momentum, striking 32 off 15 balls with three sixes. His late contribution helped Rajasthan push their total past 200 after a slow start.

He then made an immediate impact with the ball, removing two batters with the new ball through pace and movement. Archer later returned to dismiss Hardik Pandya at a crucial stage, finishing with figures of 3 for 17 from four overs.

Early Trouble and Middle-Order Recovery

Rajasthan’s innings began on a challenging note, losing early wickets and struggling to find rhythm on a slower surface. However, Dasun Shanaka’s quick 29 off 15 balls and Dhruv Jurel’s 38 off 26 helped stabilise the innings.

Archer’s late hitting, followed by contributions from Ravindra Jadeja and Nandre Burger, powered Rajasthan to a strong finish, with 73 runs coming in the final five overs.

MI Show Early Intent in Chase

Mumbai Indians started positively, with Yashasvi Jaiswal’s attacking 27 off 17 balls setting the tone. However, early breakthroughs reduced Rajasthan to 54 for 3 by the end of the powerplay.

Middle-Order Fightback Falls Short

Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks attempted to rebuild with a 63-run stand, keeping Mumbai in contention. Hardik Pandya then accelerated the chase, scoring quickly to reduce the equation to 75 off 42 balls.

Archer’s return proved decisive, as he removed Pandya with a well-directed short delivery. That breakthrough halted Mumbai’s momentum, and subsequent wickets ensured Rajasthan closed out the match comfortably.

Playoff Spot Confirmed

With this victory, Rajasthan Royals secured the final playoff position and will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator in New Chandigarh.

The result also rendered the final league fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals inconsequential, as the playoff lineup was confirmed.
