As the TATA IPL 2026 league stage moves toward its final weekend, the battle for individual awards has become just as exciting as the playoff race. Fans are closely following the Orange Cap race IPL 2026 and the Purple Cap standings IPL 2026 as several star players continue fighting for the top spots.

With playoffs still remaining, the race for both awards is far from over.

Sai Sudharsan Leads the Orange Cap Race

The biggest storyline in the Orange Cap race IPL 2026 is the battle between Gujarat Titans opening partners Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill.

Sai Sudharsan currently sits at the top with 638 runs from 14 matches. His latest match winning knock of 84 against Chennai Super Kings helped him reclaim the Orange Cap. Sudharsan has been one of the most consistent batters this season and has already scored five consecutive half centuries.

Right behind him is Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill with 616 runs. Gill has played aggressive cricket throughout the season and continues to score quickly during the powerplay. His 64 against CSK kept him very close to Sudharsan in the race.

The biggest advantage for both GT batters is qualification. Gujarat Titans have already secured a top two finish, meaning both players will get at least two more playoff games to increase their run tally.

Other Batters Still in the Race

Rajasthan Royals youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi remains third with 579 runs. The young batter has been fearless throughout IPL 2026 and already has a century to his name.

Lucknow Super Giants star Mitchell Marsh has also impressed with 563 runs, combining power hitting with consistency in the middle order.

Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Heinrich Klaasen rounds out the top five with 555 runs. Klaasen’s aggressive batting in the middle overs has been one of the major reasons behind SRH’s strong campaign.

However, the extra playoff matches available to Gujarat Titans may make it very difficult for the chasing pack to catch Sudharsan or Gill.

Right now, the answer to who will win orange cap this season looks like it will come from Gujarat Titans.

Purple Cap Race Becomes Extremely Tight

The Purple Cap standings IPL 2026 are even more dramatic because two bowlers are tied at the top with 24 wickets each.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar currently holds the Purple Cap because of his better economy rate of 7.70. The experienced fast bowler has enjoyed a brilliant comeback season and remains one of the biggest reasons behind RCB’s playoff qualification.

Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada also has 24 wickets and continues to attack aggressively with the new ball and at the death.

Unlike Bhuvneshwar, Rabada may benefit from more playoff matches because Gujarat Titans are expected to play deep into the tournament. That extra opportunity could become very important in deciding who will win Purple Cap in IPL 2026.

Rashid Khan Could Still Surprise Everyone

Another Gujarat Titans star still in the race is Rashid Khan. The Afghan spinner has 19 wickets and remains one of the most dangerous bowlers in pressure situations.

If Rashid produces strong playoff performances, he could quickly climb the table because of his ability to take wickets in clusters.

At the moment, Sai Sudharsan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar hold the Orange and Purple Caps. But with playoff cricket matches still remaining, IPL 2026 could still produce more twists before the season finally ends.
