Gujarat Titans stormed to the top of the IPL 2026 points table after a dominant 82-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, delivering both their biggest win and handing SRH their heaviest defeat of the season.

Defending 168, Gujarat’s pace attack dismantled SRH for just 86 in 14.5 overs, with Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj setting the tone early. By the end of the powerplay, SRH were reeling at 34 for 4, effectively ending the contest inside the first six overs.

Sudharsan, Washington Rescue GT

Earlier, Gujarat Titans had to recover from a shaky start themselves after slipping to 34 for 2 in the powerplay. Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a composed 61 off 44 balls, adapting well to the tricky surface where the ball held up and movement off the pitch made strokeplay difficult.

He found support from Washington Sundar, who played a crucial hand of 50 off 33 deliveries. Their efforts helped Gujarat post a competitive 168 for 5 after a slow start, with Washington accelerating in the death overs to lift the total.

Rabada Leads Pace Demolition

The chase never took off for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rabada was exceptional, bowling at high pace and exploiting the conditions with hard lengths and movement. He dismissed key batters including Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma, finishing with figures of 3 for 28.

Jason Holder then took over in the middle overs, removing Heinrich Klaasen and cleaning up the lower order to end with 3 for 20. Prasidh Krishna also chipped in with two wickets.

The relentless pace attack ensured SRH never recovered, folding for 86 in a dramatic collapse.

GT Rise to the Top

With this emphatic win, Gujarat Titans climbed to the top of the table with 16 points, underlining their growing dominance in the tournament. Their fast-bowling unit, combining height, pace, and bounce, proved decisive on a surface that offered assistance throughout the game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, were left to regroup after a heavy defeat that exposed their vulnerability against high-quality pace bowling.
