Australian star Steve Smith has described his first-ever Pakistan Super League (PSL) stint with Multan Sultans as “great fun”, expressing satisfaction with both his form and the team’s performances so far.
Speaking after the match, Smith said he has relished the experience of playing in the league and contributing to the side’s success. “I’m just enjoying my time here. It’s been good fun over the last month or so with the Multan team,” he said, adding that the team has played “some really good cricket”.
Opening Role Suits Smith’s Approach
Smith highlighted how his recent shift to opening in T20 cricket aligns well with his natural style of play.
“Anyone wants to get up top and have two fielders out for as long as possible. It’s kind of suited the way I play,” he explained.
Praise for PSL and Team Environment
The former Australia captain also commended the overall standard of the competition, noting the depth of talent across teams.
“It’s been a really good league, there’s so much talent here,” he said, while also appreciating the blend of experience and youth within the Multan Sultans squad.
Reflecting on the dressing-room atmosphere, Smith spoke positively about working with younger players. “I’m learning from the younger generation — they’re teaching me everything,” he said with a smile, adding that he remains available to guide them when required.
Focus on Strong Finish
Looking ahead, Smith stressed the importance of maintaining momentum and finishing strongly in the group stage, with the aim of securing a top-two position.
He also acknowledged the hospitality in Pakistan and the franchise environment, although he noted that the absence of large crowds has been slightly disappointing.
