Kolkata Knight Riders endured another setback in IPL 2026 as Chennai Super Kings secured a 32-run win in the 22nd match, further extending KKR’s winless run this season.
Chasing a target of 193, KKR were restricted to 160 for 7 in their 20 overs. The defeat marked their fourth loss of the campaign, leaving them at the bottom of the points table with little momentum so far.
Rahane Fined for Slow Over Rate
Following the match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India imposed a fine on Rahane for maintaining a slow over rate. KKR failed to complete their allotted overs within the stipulated time during the fixture.
As this was their first such offence of the season, Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The penalty added to the team’s ongoing struggles in the competition.

KKR Yet to Find Form
KKR’s campaign has been marked by inconsistency, particularly with the bat. Rahane has struggled to deliver impactful performances, while players such as Finn Allen and Cameron Green have also not made significant contributions so far.
Injuries to Matheesha Pathirana and Varun Chakaravarthy have further disrupted their campaign.
KKR will look to turn things around when they face Gujarat Titans on April 17.
