No player has managed four Player-of-the-Match awards in a row in the IPL so far, but several have come close by registering three successive wins. Sameer Rizvi is the latest addition to this exclusive group, joining names such as Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler.

Jacques Kallis

Jacques Kallis was the first to achieve the milestone, doing so in 2010 while representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru). He began with an unbeaten 89 off 55 balls along with figures of 1 for 39 against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), helping RCB chase 204 with seven balls remaining.

He followed that with another all-round display against Rajasthan Royals, scoring 44* off 34 and taking 2 for 20 in a ten-wicket win. Kallis completed the sequence with 66* off 55 balls and 1 for 35 against Mumbai Indians, guiding RCB to a successful chase of 152.

Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag recorded his hat-trick of awards in 2012 while leading Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). The first came in a chase, with an unbeaten 87 against Pune Warriors as DD reached the target with 24 balls to spare.

The next two performances came while setting targets. He struck 73 off 39 balls against Mumbai Indians to take his side beyond 200, before finishing with 63 off 39 deliveries in a one-run win over Rajasthan Royals.

Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch secured three consecutive awards through match-winning half-centuries for Gujarat Lions. All three innings came in chases — 162, 164, and 144.

The standout effort was his 67* off 54 balls against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede, where he saw the chase through on the final delivery.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli’s run came during his record-breaking 2016 season, where he amassed 973 runs at an average of 81.08. He guided RCB in successful chases against Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils with fifties at strike rates of 147 and 120.

The highlight of the sequence was a 113 off 50 balls against Kings XI Punjab, featuring 12 fours and eight sixes.

Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler achieved the feat in 2018, producing three consecutive scores above 80 while opening the batting. He made 82 against Kings XI Punjab and 95* against Chennai Super Kings, both innings dominated by boundaries, including 9 and 11 fours respectively with just three sixes combined.

He followed that with 94* off 53 balls against Mumbai Indians, including five sixes, as Rajasthan Royals chased down 169 comfortably.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s sequence came during the latter stages of IPL 2020, his debut season. He scored three fifties as Chennai Super Kings completed successful chases in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The run included 65* against RCB, 72 against Kolkata Knight Riders, and another unbeaten 65 against Kings XI Punjab.

Sameer Rizvi

Sameer Rizvi’s three-match streak spanned two seasons, with his final two performances coming as an Impact Player. He ended IPL 2025 with a 58* off 25 balls in a chase of 207 against Punjab Kings.

He carried that form into IPL 2026, scoring 70 off 47 balls against Lucknow Super Giants, before producing a 90 off 51 deliveries against Mumbai Indians in Delhi.
