Rajasthan Royals (RR) held their nerve to secure a six-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in a high-scoring IPL 2026 encounter, successfully defending 210 despite a late fightback from the visitors.

Half-centuries from Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal powered RR to 210 for 6, before disciplined death bowling from Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande sealed the result.

Jaiswal, Jurel Drive RR to 210

Opting to bat first on a flat surface, RR capitalised on consistent pace and bounce, allowing their batters to play freely throughout the innings.

Jaiswal set the tone with an aggressive half-century, reaching the milestone in 32 balls, while Jurel followed with a fluent 75. The pair dominated even quality bowling, including Rashid Khan, finding boundaries with both conventional and inventive strokeplay.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also contributed early momentum, as RR maintained an attacking approach across phases to post a strong total.

Ashok Sharma Impresses Despite Pressure

Among GT’s bowlers, Ashok Sharma stood out with his pace and control. Despite an early dropped catch and a boundary, he responded with disciplined bowling, including a well-directed bouncer to Jaiswal and accurate yorkers.

He maintained an economy rate below 9.25 in a match that produced 414 runs, underlining his effectiveness even on a batting-friendly pitch.

Sai Sudharsan Anchors GT Chase

In reply, Sai Sudharsan led GT’s chase with a composed 73, matching the tempo set by RR’s top order. He mixed calculated aggression with controlled strokeplay, including early attacking shots against Jofra Archer and Ravindra Jadeja.

GT were well placed at 127 for 2, with Sudharsan set and Jos Buttler beginning to find rhythm.

Bishnoi Turns the Game

Ravi Bishnoi shifted momentum in RR’s favour with a decisive spell. He removed Sudharsan with a googly and dismissed Washington Sundar shortly after, triggering a collapse.

GT lost six wickets in a 27-ball period, slipping from a strong position to needing a late rescue.

Late Fightback Falls Short

Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan attempted to revive the chase, reducing the equation from 50 off 30 to 15 off 12. Rabada struck powerful boundaries, briefly swinging momentum back towards GT.

However, Archer and Deshpande delivered under pressure. Archer targeted Rabada with short deliveries and kept Rashid in check with accurate yorkers.

Death Overs Seal Result

With 10 runs required in the final over, Deshpande executed a series of pinpoint yorkers, denying GT boundary opportunities. Rashid Khan eventually fell attempting a big shot, with Archer taking the catch to end the contest.

RR successfully defended their total, producing one of the rare instances where no boundaries were conceded in the final 12 balls of a chase in such scenarios.
