Chennai Super Kings’ emphatic 103-run win over Mumbai Indians on Thursday night not only made headlines but also reshaped the Orange and Purple Cap standings in IPL 2026.

Orange Cap Leaderboard

Sanju Samson has surged into the top three after another standout performance.

The CSK batter now has 293 runs in the tournament, powered largely by two centuries — half of the four hundreds recorded so far this season — along with a score of 48. However, inconsistency outside those big innings has kept him behind the top two.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad pair of Abhishek Sharma (323 runs) and Heinrich Klaasen (320 runs) continue to occupy the first and second spots respectively.

Further movement in the standings could be on the cards, with Shubman Gill currently fourth on 265 runs. Virat Kohli sits sixth with 247, while Rajat Patidar is ninth with 230. All three were set to feature in the RCB vs GT clash, which could trigger additional changes in the leaderboard.

Purple Cap Leaderboard

CSK’s Anshul Kamboj has reclaimed the Purple Cap after a disciplined spell against Mumbai.

Kamboj returned figures of 1 for 10 in three overs, dismissing Shardul Thakur and taking his tally to 14 wickets, moving ahead of Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants, who now drops to second with 13 wickets.

Behind them, Eshan Malinga of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Prasidh Krishna of Gujarat Titans are tied with 12 wickets each.

With Krishna scheduled to play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, further shifts in the Purple Cap race remain a strong possibility.

What This Means

  • Samson enters the top three in the Orange Cap standings
  • Kamboj takes sole lead in the Purple Cap race
  • SRH duo continue to dominate the run charts
  • Upcoming matches could significantly alter both tables
