The playoff race in TATA IPL 2026 has reached its most exciting stage. With Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad already securing qualification, only one playoff place is still available.

Now the big question for fans is simple: who will qualify for IPL 2026 playoffs as the fourth team?

After Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings, the race has narrowed down to four teams. Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals are all still alive heading into the final round of league matches.

Rajasthan Royals Hold the Biggest Advantage

Rajasthan Royals currently sit in fourth place with 14 points from 13 matches. More importantly, they control their own destiny.

RR only need to beat Mumbai Indians in their final game to move to 16 points and officially qualify for the playoffs. No other result would matter if they win.

This makes Rajasthan the strongest favorite in the IPL 2026 final playoff spot prediction battle. They are facing a Mumbai side that is already out of the tournament, which increases their chances even further.

However, if RR lose, the pressure completely shifts toward other results.

Punjab Kings Need Two Results to Go Their Way

Punjab Kings are sitting on 13 points and still have a realistic chance of qualification.

Their first task is very clear. PBKS must defeat Lucknow Super Giants in their final league game. A win would take them to 15 points.

After that, they need Mumbai Indians to defeat Rajasthan Royals. If RR lose and stay on 14 points, Punjab would move ahead with 15.

Punjab also have a major advantage in net run rate. Their current NRR of +0.227 is much better than Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. This could become extremely important if multiple teams finish with the same number of points.

Because of that strong NRR, Punjab remain one of the most dangerous teams in the race.

Kolkata Knight Riders Need a Big Win

Kolkata Knight Riders also sit on 13 points and face Delhi Capitals in a direct knockout style clash.

KKR must beat Delhi to reach 15 points. Just like Punjab, they also need Rajasthan Royals to lose against Mumbai Indians.

However, Kolkata have another major problem. Their net run rate is only +0.011, far behind Punjab Kings.

If both PBKS and KKR win their matches, Punjab will likely qualify unless Kolkata manage a huge victory against Delhi. That means KKR not only need to win, but they probably need a massive margin victory as well.

The pressure on Kolkata will therefore be very high.

Delhi Capitals Need a Miracle

Delhi Capitals are technically still alive, but their situation looks almost impossible.

DC are currently on 12 points with a very poor net run rate of -0.871. They must defeat Kolkata Knight Riders and then hope Lucknow beats Punjab while Mumbai heavily defeats Rajasthan.

Even in that situation, Delhi would still depend on net run rate calculations going perfectly in their favor.

Realistically, Delhi’s qualification chances remain extremely small.

Who Is Most Likely to Qualify?

At this stage, Rajasthan Royals remain the strongest favorites because qualification is completely in their own hands.

Punjab Kings are the biggest threat because of their strong net run rate and balanced situation heading into the final weekend.

Kolkata Knight Riders still have hope, but they need both results and a big winning margin. Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, need nothing short of a miracle.

Right now, the playoff race still belongs to Rajasthan Royals, but one bad performance could completely change the IPL 2026 season.
