Lahore Qalandars completed a thrilling chase of 200, defeating Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets with three balls to spare, as Fakhar Zaman anchored the innings with an unbeaten half-century.

Lahore Qalandars 200 for 4 (Zaman 58*, Sams 35*, Asalanka 33, Raza 29)
beat Peshawar Zalmi 199 for 4 (Bracewell 83, Babar 59) by six wickets

In a PSL 2026 season played without crowds but still rich in intensity, Qalandars strengthened their position in the top four with a key win at their home venue against the most dominant side of the league stage so far.

The chase was built around Zaman’s composed 58 not out from 47 balls, supported by aggressive contributions from Abdullah Shafique (25 off 11), Sikandar Raza (29 off 11), and Daniel Sams, who finished unbeaten on 35 from 15 deliveries.

Qalandars Edge Closer to Playoff Spot

With this result, Lahore Qalandars have significantly improved their chances of securing fourth place and advancing to the Eliminator. The only team still capable of overtaking them is Hyderabad Kingsmen, who must win their final match convincingly enough to surpass Qalandars’ superior net run rate (-0.482 compared to -1.037).

Measured Start, Explosive Finish

Chasing 200 on a batting-friendly surface in Lahore required a calculated approach. Qalandars appeared to follow a strategy where Zaman focused on holding the innings together, allowing his partners to take on the attacking responsibilities.

Zaman began cautiously, scoring 20 off 19 balls during the powerplay. He accelerated selectively when required but largely played the role of an anchor throughout the innings.

Around him, the supporting cast delivered at key moments. Shafique’s quick cameo ensured the chase stayed on track, while Charith Asalanka added 33 from 26 balls at No. 4 to stabilise the middle phase.

Raza and Sams Seal the Chase

Sikandar Raza’s innings proved decisive in shifting the momentum. When he arrived, Qalandars needed 82 runs from 44 balls. By the time he was dismissed, the requirement had been reduced to 40 off 25. His aggressive strokeplay, particularly in the region between mid-on and cover, put Zalmi under pressure.

Daniel Sams then took charge in the closing stages. He made an immediate impact, striking two fours and a six off Mohammad Basit in his first four deliveries to bring the target down rapidly. By the end of that over, Qalandars needed just 19 from 18 balls, and the chase was completed comfortably with wickets in hand.

Zalmi Bowlers Under Pressure

Despite entering the playoffs as favourites, Zalmi’s bowling attack struggled to contain the chase. Young pacer Ali Raza conceded 48 runs in his three overs, while Sufiyan Muqeem went for 38 in four.

Earlier, Lahore’s bowling effort had been led by their Pakistan quicks, with Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf picking up two wickets each. Shaheen returned figures of 2 for 36.

Bracewell and Babar Lead Zalmi Total

Peshawar Zalmi’s innings was powered by Michael Bracewell, who struck 83 off 45 balls, alongside another half-century from Babar Azam, who made 59. Although Kusal Mendis did not produce a big score this time, Zalmi still posted a strong total of 199 for 4.

However, it ultimately proved insufficient as Qalandars executed a well-paced chase to secure a crucial victory.
