Scotland Women secured a 24-run victory over Netherlands Women in the rain-affected fifth match of the Scotland Women’s T20I Tri-Series at the Grange Cricket Club Ground, finishing at the top of the standings.
Led by captain Kathryn Bryce, Scotland produced a strong all-round performance to register their third win of the tournament and confirm their position as table-toppers with six points from four matches. Netherlands and Bangladesh remained on two points each after three games.
Bryce Powers Scotland with the Bat
The match was initially reduced to 12 overs per side due to rain. After being put in to bat, Scotland made full use of the conditions, posting 124/3.
Kathryn Bryce led from the front with an unbeaten 63 off 33 balls, hitting nine fours and a six. She was supported by Katherine Fraser, who scored 29, and Sarah Bryce, who remained not out on 23.
For Netherlands, Heather Siegers, Iris Zwilling and Caroline de Lange claimed one wicket each.
A second rain interruption reduced the contest further to 10 overs for the chase, leaving Netherlands with a revised target of 105.
However, Scotland’s bowlers maintained control, restricting Netherlands to 80 in their allotted overs.
Scotland Bowlers Seal the Win
Sterre Kalis top-scored for Netherlands with 28 from 22 balls, while captain Babette de Leede made 14 and Heather Siegers added 15.
Chloe Abel led the bowling effort with figures of 2/8 in two overs. Olivia Bell, Priyanaz Chatterji and Kathryn Bryce each picked up a wicket to ensure Scotland stayed ahead throughout the chase.
Bryce also contributed with the ball, returning economical figures of 1/16, completing an impressive all-round performance.
Scotland Finish on Top
The victory confirmed Scotland’s dominance in the tri-series, as they finished with three wins from four matches to secure top spot.
For her contributions with both bat and ball, Kathryn Bryce was named Player of the Match.
