Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Kartik Tyagi has moved into fifth place on the IPL 2026 Purple Cap leaderboard following his latest performance against Mumbai Indians.

Despite both KKR and MI boasting a combined eight IPL titles, neither side has produced dominant performers in the batting or bowling charts this season. However, KKR have recently seen a shift, with Tyagi emerging as one of their key contributors during a strong run of form.

Purple Cap Update

Tyagi delivered figures of 2 for 37 in the match, picking up the wickets of Tilak Varma and Deepak Chahar — the latter coming off the final ball of the innings. That effort took his tally to 18 wickets for the season, placing him fifth on the list.

KKR’s improved performances have coincided with Tyagi’s rise, as the team has recorded six wins in their last seven matches to remain in contention for a playoff spot.

The top four positions on the Purple Cap table remain unchanged:

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar (RCB): 24 wickets
  • Kagiso Rabada (GT): 21 wickets
  • Anshul Kamboj (CSK): 20 wickets
  • Jofra Archer (RR): 18 wickets

Although Archer has the same number of wickets as Tyagi, he holds a higher position due to a superior economy rate of 9.14 compared to Tyagi’s 9.42.

Meanwhile, Sunil Narine delivered economical figures of 1 for 13 in the same game. While he has taken 14 wickets this season, his economy rate of 6.40 remains the best among bowlers after 12 innings.

Orange Cap Standings

There were no significant changes in the race for the Orange Cap. KKR’s leading run-scorer Angkrish Raghuvanshi was unable to bat after suffering a concussion, while Mumbai Indians’ top scorer Ryan Rickelton managed just 6 runs.

The top five run-scorers currently are:

  1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (RR) – 579 runs
  2. Mitchell Marsh (LSG) – 563 runs
  3. Heinrich Klaasen (SRH) – 555 runs
  4. B Sai Sudharsan (GT) – 554 runs
  5. Shubman Gill (GT) – 552 runs

With the tournament entering its decisive phase, both leaderboards remain tightly contested as teams push for playoff qualification.
