In Dharamshala, captain Rajat Patidar produced a stunning innings after walking in with RCB under pressure. His late-innings assault gave Bengaluru a major lift, as he struck a series of sixes on his way to an unbeaten 93 off 33 balls, guiding RCB to 254/5.
The game at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala turned into a record-breaking contest, with RCB’s total becoming the highest innings score ever recorded in IPL playoff history.

5. 222/5 by CSK vs DC, Chennai, 2012 (Qualifier 2)
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) put up 222/5 against Delhi Daredevils, now Delhi Capitals, in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2012 in Chennai. Murali Vijay led the way with 113 off 58 balls, while Suresh Raina added 66 from 48 deliveries.
CSK later held Delhi to 136, sealing an 86-run win and moving into the final. Their total was built around a powerful second-wicket stand between Vijay and Raina, which dismantled the Delhi bowling attack.
4. 226/6 by PBKS vs CSK, Mumbai (Wankhede), 2014 (Qualifier 2)
Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings, registered 226/6 against CSK in the 2014 IPL Qualifier 2 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Virender Sehwag was the standout performer, smashing 122 off 58 balls. Punjab went on to win by 24 runs, even though Suresh Raina produced a record-breaking 87 off 25 balls during CSK’s chase.
3. 228/5 by MI vs GT, Mullanpur, 2025 (Eliminator)
Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time IPL champions, posted 228/5 against Gujarat Titans in the 2025 IPL Eliminator at Mullanpur.
Rohit Sharma scored 81 off 50 balls and Jonny Bairstow made 47 from 22 deliveries to set up MI’s total. Mumbai eventually won by 20 runs, with GT finishing on 208/6 despite Sai Sudharsan’s excellent 80.
2. 233/3 by GT vs MI, Ahmedabad, 2023 (Qualifier 2)
Gujarat Titans’ 233/3 against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 was powered by Shubman Gill’s brilliant 129 off 60 balls.
Gill’s innings included seven fours and 10 sixes and remains one of the finest knocks in IPL playoff history. His performance helped GT secure a 62-run victory and reach the final.
He also added 138 runs with Sai Sudharsan, who made 43 off 31 balls. GT later retired Sudharsan tactically to increase the scoring rate, before former captain Hardik Pandya hit an unbeaten 28 from 13 balls to lift the side to 233/3.

The new highest total in IPL playoff history belongs to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who scored 254/5 against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2026.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar was the central figure in the innings, smashing 93 not out from just 33 balls. His explosive batting powered Bengaluru to a huge 254/5 in 20 overs, as RCB dominated the GT bowling attack throughout the innings.
