Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Heinrich Klaasen added another milestone to his name in IPL 2026, becoming the highest run-scorer in a single season while batting at No. 4 or lower.

The South African has accumulated 606 runs this season, surpassing Rishabh Pant’s previous record of 579 runs for Delhi Capitals in 2018. In doing so, Klaasen also became the first player to cross the 600-run mark in an IPL season from that batting position.

Riyan Parag sits third on the list with 573 runs for Rajasthan Royals in 2024, followed by Rohit Sharma, who scored 538 runs for Mumbai Indians in 2013. Glenn Maxwell completes the top five with 513 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2021.

Klaasen Joins Elite SRH Batting List

Klaasen also reached another landmark during the season, becoming the fifth batter to score 2000 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He now has 2020 runs for the franchise.

The leading run-scorer for SRH remains David Warner with 4014 runs, followed by Shikhar Dhawan with 2678. Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson occupy the next two spots with 2316 and 2101 runs respectively.

Most Runs by No. 4 or Lower in T20 Competitions

Klaasen’s 606 runs place him at the top of the list for most runs in a T20 competition by a batter positioned at No. 4 or lower:

  • Heinrich Klaasen (SRH, IPL 2026) – 606
  • Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals, IPL 2018) – 579
  • Riyan Parag (Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2024) – 573
  • Sam Hain (Birmingham Bears, Vitality Blast 2024) – 569
  • Adam Hose (Birmingham Bears, Vitality Blast 2022) – 557
  • Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians, IPL 2013) – 538
  • Wayne Madsen (Derbyshire, NatWest T20 Blast 2017) – 526

  • Jonathan Wells (Adelaide Strikers, BBL 2021-22) – 501
  • Glenn Phillips (Gloucestershire, Vitality Blast 2021) – 500

Landmark Achievement in Context

Scoring more than 600 runs in a T20 tournament is rare in itself, and doing so from a middle-order position adds an additional level of difficulty. Klaasen’s ability to build innings as well as accelerate scoring has been central to his success this season.

The record was achieved during the IPL 2026 fixture between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 22, a match that now stands out for Klaasen’s contribution.

His consistency throughout the campaign has played a key role in SRH’s performances, underlining the value of a middle-order batter capable of delivering under pressure.

A Significant T20 Record

By becoming the first player to reach 600 runs in a T20 competition while batting at No. 4 or lower, Klaasen has set a new benchmark in the format. The achievement highlights both his adaptability and sustained output across the season.
