Mukul Choudhary delivered a remarkable finishing performance for Lucknow Super Giants against Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 15 of IPL 2026, not only sealing a thrilling win but also setting several notable records. Here’s a breakdown of the standout numbers from the contest at Eden Gardens.

Match-defining numbers

  • 54 – Runs LSG needed after losing their seventh wicket, making it the second-highest total chased from that stage in a successful IPL run chase. The highest remains 61 by Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians in the 2018 season opener at Wankhede.
  • 52 – Runs scored by Choudhary in the death overs (17 to 20). He became only the second batter to score 50 or more runs in the death overs of a successful IPL chase, after Kieron Pollard’s 57 off 17 balls for Mumbai Indians against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013.
  • 54* – The unbroken partnership between Choudhary and Avesh Khan is now the highest stand for the eighth wicket (or lower) in a successful IPL chase. The previous record was 52* by Rinku Singh and Umesh Yadav for KKR against Gujarat Titans.

Dominance in partnership

  • 96.3% – Choudhary’s share of runs in his stand with Avesh Khan, scoring 52 of the 54 runs in just 21 balls. Avesh faced only three deliveries, scoring a single, while the final run came as a bye.

This is the highest individual contribution in a 50-plus partnership in IPL history. The previous best was 94.64% by Romario Shepherd, who scored 53 in a 56-run stand with Tim David for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Chennai Super Kings last year.

Power hitting impact

  • 7 – Sixes struck by Choudhary in his unbeaten 54 off 27 balls. This is the joint-third-highest number of sixes by a batter coming in at No. 7 or lower in an IPL innings.

His tally is also the joint-highest number of sixes at that position in a successful chase, matching Dwayne Bravo’s effort for Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians in 2018.

  • 8 – Number of times KKR have lost an IPL match on the final ball while defending a total, the most by any team. Mumbai Indians are next with seven such defeats.
  • 2 – Occasions when LSG have completed a chase on the final ball in the IPL, with the previous instance coming against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2023.
  • 5-2 – LSG’s head-to-head record against KKR in the IPL. At Eden Gardens, LSG hold a 3-1 advantage. Both of KKR’s wins against LSG came during the 2024 season.

Choudhary’s innings not only secured a memorable victory but also etched his name into multiple IPL records, underlining the impact of his late-order heroics.
