There was no change at the top of the Purple Cap standings on Wednesday, but the Orange Cap leaderboard saw a new leader emerge.

Orange Cap Leaderboard

Virat Kohli climbed to the top of the run charts to claim the Orange Cap following his 49 off 34 balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chase down 147 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Featuring as an Impact Player for the first time in IPL history, Kohli finished as RCB’s leading scorer in the match and moved his tally to 228 runs this season. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen occupies the second spot with 224 runs.

This was the first occasion Kohli was utilised as an Impact Player by RCB. He was not part of the starting XI after the team chose to field first and had also spent time off the field in the previous game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday. Kohli had mentioned knee soreness during that match and was not at full fitness ahead of Wednesday’s fixture.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar moved into third position after scoring 27 off 13 balls against LSG. Apart from Kohli, Klaasen, and Patidar, only Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have crossed the 200-run mark in the tournament so far.

Purple Cap Leaderboard

Chennai Super Kings seamer Anshul Kamboj continues to hold the top spot jointly with Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna, both with ten wickets. Rajasthan Royals wristspinner Ravi Bishnoi and LSG pacer Prince Yadav follow closely with nine wickets each.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya sit just behind with seven wickets apiece after five matches. Krunal remains the only finger spinner among the top ten wicket-takers this season.
