Virat Kohli added another chapter to his record-breaking career with his unbeaten 105 against Kolkata Knight Riders, becoming the first Indian batter to reach 10 centuries in T20 cricket.

Virat Kohli is now only the fourth player overall to register 10 or more T20 hundreds, joining Chris Gayle (22), Babar Azam (13) and David Warner (10).

Fastest to 14,000 T20 Runs

During the same innings, Kohli also became the fastest batter to reach 14,000 runs in T20 cricket, achieving the milestone in 409 innings. He surpassed Gayle, who had previously held the record with 423 innings, and became the first Indian to cross the mark. Overall, he is the sixth batter to reach 14,000 T20 runs.

IPL Records Continue to Grow

Kohli’s latest century was his ninth in the IPL, extending his lead as the player with the most hundreds in the tournament. He is now two clear of Jos Buttler, who has seven. Three of Kohli’s IPL centuries have come while chasing, placing him level with Buttler for the most in successful run chases.

The innings also saw Kohli become the most-capped player in IPL history, featuring in his 279th match, moving ahead of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, who have both played 278 games.

In addition, Kohli equalled Rohit Sharma for the most Player-of-the-Match awards by an Indian in the IPL, with 21, while only AB de Villiers (25) and Gayle (22) have more overall.

Key Partnerships and Shot-Making Highlights

Kohli’s partnership with Devdutt Padikkal has also been a key factor in successful chases. The pair now have 10 fifty-plus stands in winning IPL chases, the most by any duo, and have added 1035 runs across 14 such innings, including four century partnerships.

In his unbeaten 105, Kohli scored 46 runs through the midwicket region, his highest tally in that area in a T20 innings. Only six players have scored more runs in that region in an IPL innings.

Unique Milestones

The knock of 105* is also the highest score recorded in 33 men’s T20 matches played in Raipur. Kane Williamson is the only other player to score a T20 century at the venue, having made 101* during the 2014 Champions League T20.

Kohli also became the first player in IPL history to score a century immediately after registering back-to-back ducks, having been dismissed without scoring in his previous two matches against LSG (Lucknow Super Giants) and Mumbai Indians.

Across all T20 cricket, he is the sixth player to follow consecutive ducks with a hundred, after David Warner (2011), Rilee Rossouw (2022), Rohit Sharma (2024), Sanju Samson (2024) and Hasan Nawaz (2025).
