Despite expectations of a high-scoring game, the match unfolded as a gripping contest, with RR’s disciplined bowling and timely batting contributions proving decisive. Rajasthan Royals defend a total of 159, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 40 runs and handing them a fourth consecutive loss in IPL 2026.

Jadeja Anchors Royals’ Recovery

RR’s innings was lifted by Ravindra Jadeja, who top-scored with an unbeaten 43 off 29 balls. His crucial 49-run stand with Impact Player Shubham Dubey, who joined in the 16th over, helped push the total to 159.

The late surge, including 32 runs in the final two overs, ensured RR posted a competitive total after a mid-innings slowdown.

Early Blows Leave RR Under Pressure

Lucknow struck early through Mohsin Khan and Mohammed Shami. Mohsin removed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after building pressure with a series of dot balls, while Shami dismissed both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel in quick succession.

RR slipped from 32 without loss to 32 for 3 inside four overs. Further setbacks followed as Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag fell, leaving the side at 77 for 5.

Jadeja Guides Late Acceleration

Jadeja adopted a measured approach through the middle overs, taking minimal risks while keeping the scoreboard moving. He found his rhythm towards the end, notably scoring heavily in the final overs, including a strong finish against Mayank Yadav.

Dubey’s cameo provided additional impetus as RR managed to finish strongly despite earlier setbacks.

LSG Collapse Under Pressure

LSG’s chase never gained momentum as early wickets derailed their innings. Jofra Archer struck with a sharp bouncer to dismiss Aiden Markram, while Nandre Burger removed Rishabh Pant.

A run-out accounted for Ayush Badoni, leaving LSG struggling at 11 for 3.

Nicholas Pooran showed some resistance with 22, but was dismissed by Jadeja, halting any recovery.

Marsh Fights Lone Battle

Mitchell Marsh provided the only substantial resistance for LSG, scoring 55 while attempting to keep the chase alive. However, wickets continued to fall at the other end, increasing the pressure.

His dismissal in the 16th over, with LSG still needing 55 runs, effectively ended the contest.

RR’s bowling unit then wrapped up the innings in 18 overs, with Archer finishing with 3 for 20, while Brijesh Sharma claimed 2 for 18 and Burger picked up two wickets.

The victory ended RR’s two-match losing streak and lifted them to second place on the points table. LSG, meanwhile, remained in ninth position, level on points with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
