India Travel to Ahmedabad for T20 World Cup 2026 Final Against New Zealand

A day after securing a dramatic seven-run victory over England in the semi-final of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, India departed Mumbai for Ahmedabad ahead of the title clash against New Zealand.

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team travelled to Ahmedabad for the final scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Excitement among supporters was visible as the team bus left their hotel in Mumbai en route to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport to catch the flight.

Fans gathered in large numbers hoping to catch a glimpse of the squad. Loud cheers and chants broke out as supporters spotted members of the 15-player team, including wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

The atmosphere at the airport resembled a celebration, with fans using their mobile phones to capture photos and videos of the players and support staff before the team boarded their flight.

India Eye Historic Achievements

Top-ranked India are now chasing their third Men’s T20 World Cup title as they prepare to face Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand in the final of the 20-team tournament.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will also aim to become the first team to win back-to-back Men’s T20 World Cups and the first to lift the trophy on home soil.

New Zealand arrive in the final after a dominant nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the semi-final in Kolkata, highlighted by Finn Allen’s record-breaking 33-ball century. The Black Caps will be seeking their first Men’s T20 World Cup title.

Recap of India’s Semi-Final Win

India earned their place in the final with a narrow win over England in the semi-final played at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Despite a blistering 105 from Jacob Bethell, England fell just short of the target.

Sanju Samson’s impressive 89 powered India to 253/7, before the bowlers restricted England to 246/7 in front of a crowd of 35,000 spectators at the iconic venue.

India now head into the final with the chance to achieve several milestones as they face New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
