The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has already broken ticket sales records ahead of the tournament, with more than 145,000 tickets sold across England and Wales.
With the event still 30 days away from its June 12 start, this figure has already surpassed the previous attendance record of 136,549 set during the 2020 edition in Australia, making it the highest-selling Women’s T20 World Cup in history.
Growing Global Interest in Women’s Cricket
The upcoming edition, which runs from June 12 to July 5, will feature 12 teams competing across seven venues. The expanded format divides teams into two groups of six, highlighting the increasing scale and reach of the tournament.
Group 1 includes Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, India and Pakistan, while Group 2 features hosts England, defending champions New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, the West Indies and Scotland.
England, led by Nat Sciver-Brunt, will open the tournament against Sri Lanka at Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 12.
ICC Highlights Milestone
The record-breaking ticket sales underline the continued growth of women’s cricket and rising engagement from fans in the United Kingdom and beyond.
“The 2026 edition becoming the highest-selling ICC Women’s T20 World Cup ever is another milestone for the women’s game,” said ICC General Manager – Events and Corporate Communications, Gaurav Saxena. “It not only highlights the incredible momentum behind women’s cricket but also reflects the strong cultural pull of an ICC pinnacle event. This edition is set to be our biggest tournament to date and is expected to smash attendance and viewership records in the UK and around the world.”
Warm-Up Matches and Fan Engagement
Teams will prepare for the tournament with warm-up fixtures scheduled from June 6 to June 10 at Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens, Derby County Ground and Loughborough University. Matches will begin at 10:00 and 15:00 local time.
Off-field activities will also form part of the build-up, including the Spirit Week Trophy Tour and Cricket 4 Good initiatives in partnership with UNICEF, where young players will have opportunities to train with international stars.
Tournament Set for Historic Edition
Tournament Director Beth Barrett-Wild highlighted the significance of the milestone.
“Surpassing 145,000 ticket sales is an incredible milestone. To have exceeded the previous record set in Australia, before a ball has been bowled, shows just how much excitement there is for this tournament and for women’s cricket globally. We’ve always believed this tournament has the potential to be the biggest women’s cricket event in history.”
With demand continuing to rise, the 2026 edition is set to become the most attended Women’s T20 World Cup to date, reflecting the growing global appeal of the women’s game.
