The final of PSL 2026 will be played in front of spectators at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore after approval from Pakistan’s Prime Minister, as confirmed by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. It will be the only match this season to allow fans, with the rest of the tournament conducted behind closed doors.

The decision comes after earlier restrictions were imposed as part of fuel-saving measures during an energy crisis caused by supply disruptions linked to the West Asia situation.

“I requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow spectators in the stadiums,” Naqvi said. “While he was also inclined to permit fans, he emphasised that austerity measures are currently in place across Pakistan, with efforts underway to minimize fuel consumption. However, on the request of franchise owners, he has graciously approved the presence of fans for the PSL 11 Final. I sincerely thank him for this decision and for facilitating the fans.”

Tournament Played Behind Closed Doors

On March 22, Naqvi had announced that PSL 2026 would be staged without spectators and scaled down to two venues — Lahore and Karachi — instead of the initially planned six. At the time, he indicated that the possibility of allowing crowds later in the competition would depend on improvements in the regional situation.

Despite that expectation, matches continued to be held without general public attendance, with only limited numbers present, including invited guests and individuals associated with sponsorship commitments.

Growing Demand for Fans

As the tournament progressed, calls for allowing spectators grew louder, particularly from franchise owners, who pushed for a change in policy ahead of the final.

The PCB has not yet provided details regarding ticket sales or distribution for the match. The PSL 2026 final is scheduled to take place on May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
