India vs Zimbabwe Weather Update: India face Zimbabwe in a vital Super Eights fixture of the T20 World Cup in Chennai on Thursday. India’s push for a semi-final berth suffered a significant setback following a heavy defeat to South Africa. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side were thoroughly outplayed by the Proteas and went down by 76 runs.
Matters became more complicated after West Indies secured a comprehensive win over Zimbabwe, leaving India in a position where victories in both of their remaining matches — and by convincing margins — are required to strengthen their Top 4 chances. Although a defeat to Zimbabwe would not officially eliminate them, it would severely dent their prospects, leaving their fate dependent on other results and Net Run Rate (NRR).
Chennai Weather Forecast
The outlook in Chennai appears favourable for cricket, with clear skies forecast and no rain expected on Thursday. Temperatures are likely to range between 26–28 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius predicted. Humidity levels are set to exceed 70 per cent, and dew could become a significant factor as the match progresses.
Rinku Singh Set To Rejoin Squad
In a boost ahead of the must-win contest, India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed that middle-order batter Rinku Singh will link up with the squad before the Super Eights clash.
Rinku, who has featured in every game for India at the ongoing T20 World Cup, departed the team hotel on Tuesday to travel to Uttar Pradesh after his father — who is battling liver cancer — was hospitalised and placed on ventilator support. He was absent from training on Tuesday.
Providing an update at the pre-match press conference, Kotak said the batter would return to Chennai on Wednesday evening. “Rinku’s father wasn’t well. So he went back. I think he is coming back this evening,” he said.
