Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has confirmed the schedule for India’s upcoming tour, with the world champions set to play a three-match T20I series in Harare this July.

All three matches will take place at the Harare Sports Club, with each game scheduled to begin at 1pm local time. This will mark India’s first tour of Zimbabwe since July 2024, when the two teams faced off in a five-match T20I series.

The announcement follows closely after confirmation that Zimbabwe will travel to India for a three-match One-Day International series in January 2027, which will be their first bilateral assignment in the country since 2002.

The two sides most recently met during the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup, where India registered a 72-run win in Chennai after putting up 256 for 4.

Makoni Highlights Significance of Series

Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni emphasised the importance of hosting India, noting the value that such fixtures bring to both players and fans.

“Matches against India always generate enormous interest and this is a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against the world champions on home soil,” he said.

He added that competing against a top-tier side like India offers Zimbabwe’s players a vital chance to assess their abilities at the highest level.

Building on Recent Progress

Makoni also referred to Zimbabwe’s recent performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, stating that the team has laid a promising foundation to build upon.

“Following our encouraging performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, this series gives us a strong platform to build momentum and continue growing as a competitive force in international cricket.”

Looking Ahead to India Tour

The ZC Managing Director further expressed his excitement about Zimbabwe’s upcoming ODI tour of India, describing it as a significant milestone after more than two decades.

“It is a landmark moment for Zimbabwe to be touring India again for a bilateral ODI series after more than two decades,” he said.

“India is one of the premier destinations in world cricket and this tour represents both an honour and a valuable opportunity for our players.

“We are looking forward to competitive and high-quality cricket and we believe this engagement will further strengthen the relationship between the two cricketing nations while providing invaluable exposure for our team.”
