Peshawar Zalmi produced a record-breaking performance to chase down a 215-run target against RawalPindiz in the third match of PSL 11 at the Gaddafi Stadium.
In their campaign opener, Zalmi reached 218 for 5 in 19.1 overs, completing the chase with five wickets in hand and five balls remaining.
Collective Batting Effort Seals Chase
The chase was built on contributions across the batting order rather than a single dominant innings. Mohammad Haris led the scoring with a brisk 47 from 28 balls, including four fours and two sixes.
Captain Babar added 38 from 38 deliveries, while Michael Bracewell, Abdul Samad and Kusal Mendis chipped in with 35, 33 and 31 respectively. Aamir Jamal then finished the chase with an unbeaten 17 from just five balls.
Record-Breaking Chase
Zalmi’s successful pursuit set multiple records. It became the highest target chased in men’s T20 cricket without any batter reaching a half-century, surpassing the previous mark set by Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket.
Washington Freedom had chased 214 against Los Angeles Knight Riders in 2025, with Mitchell Owen top-scoring with 43 from 16 balls.
Zalmi’s total of 218 for 5 is also the highest score in Pakistan’s domestic T20 cricket without a half-century. The previous record of 209 was jointly held by Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators.
Historic Feat at Gaddafi Stadium
The 215-run chase also stands as the highest successful run chase at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Zalmi’s performance highlighted depth in their batting line-up, as contributions came from multiple players to complete the chase in a high-scoring encounter.
