Bangladesh cricket has seen several outstanding batters in the longest format over the years. Among those names, Mushfiqur Rahim stands as one of the most important figures in the country’s Test history.
The veteran batter, currently featuring in the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan, produced a well-earned century at the age of 39. His innings not only helped Bangladesh recover in the match but also took him to the top of an elite list of Bangladesh batters with the most centuries in Test cricket.
Here is a look at the Bangladesh players with the highest number of Test hundreds, led by the modern-day great Mushfiqur Rahim.
5. Litton Das – 6 Test Centuries
Litton Das is regarded as one of the most naturally talented batters Bangladesh has produced in Test cricket. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter brings elegance to the crease, and one of the standout aspects of his game is his strike rate of 60.24, which is uncommon among Bangladeshi Test batters.
His six Test centuries have come in impressive moments, but not with the kind of regularity that would place him higher on this list. That lack of sustained consistency remains the main question around his batting in the longest format.
There have been innings where Litton has looked almost unstoppable, but there have also been occasions when he has failed to convert promising starts. His highest score of 141 shows the level he can reach, and he continues to justify his form with the bat.
4. Najmul Hossain Shanto – 9 Test Centuries
Najmul Hossain Shanto has grown into one of Bangladesh’s most reliable Test batters in recent years. Since his debut in 2017, Shanto has made 2530 runs in 41 Test matches and 77 innings, averaging 33.73 with a strike rate of 53.96.
The left-handed batter has already recorded nine Test hundreds and six half-centuries, with his best score being 163 against Sri Lanka.
Shanto also became the first Bangladesh batter to score hundreds in both innings of a Test match on two occasions, doing so against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. As captain, he holds the record for most Test centuries by a Bangladesh skipper, going past Mushfiqur Rahim.
3. Tamim Iqbal – 10 Test Centuries
Tamim Iqbal remains one of the finest opening batters Bangladesh have had in Test cricket. Across a career that ran from 2008 to 2023, Tamim scored 5134 runs from 70 Tests and 134 innings at an average of 38.89 and a strike rate of 57.99.
The left-handed opener made 10 centuries and 31 half-centuries, with his highest score being a superb 206 against Pakistan in 2015. Tamim also became the first Bangladesh batter to score a Test hundred at Lord’s, making a memorable 103 against England in 2010.
He is still the only Bangladesh batter to score centuries in three successive Test matches and was also the quickest player from the country to reach 1000 Test runs. With 655 fours and 41 sixes, Tamim helped define a more aggressive phase of Bangladesh’s Test batting.
2. Mominul Haque – 13 Test Centuries
Mominul Haque has long been among Bangladesh’s best Test specialists and remains one of the country’s leading century-makers in the format. Since making his debut in 2013, Mominul has scored 5058 runs in 77 Tests and 143 innings at an average of 38.03 and a strike rate of 54.13.
The left-hander has made 13 centuries and 27 half-centuries, with his highest score being 181 against New Zealand. Known widely as “The Little Master,” Mominul became the first Bangladesh batter to reach 10 Test centuries.
He also made history by scoring hundreds in both innings of a Test against Sri Lanka in 2018. Mominul also owns the rare record of 11 consecutive fifty-plus scores in Test cricket, putting him in a select group of international batters.
1. Mushfiqur Rahim – 14 Test Centuries
Mushfiqur Rahim is widely regarded as the greatest Test batter Bangladesh have produced and remains the country’s highest run-scorer in the longest format. Since his debut in 2005, Mushfiqur has scored over 6000 runs across 100+ Test matches.
The experienced batter now has 14 Test centuries and 29 fifties, with his best score being an unbeaten 219 against Zimbabwe. Mushfiqur was also the first Bangladesh batter to score a Test double-century and remains the only player from the country with three double hundreds in the format.
The former wicketkeeper-batter also became the first Bangladesh cricketer to appear in 100 Test matches. With 770 fours and 39 sixes, Mushfiqur has been a central figure in Bangladesh’s Test batting for more than two decades, combining consistency with resilience.
