Spectators will be allowed to attend all playoff matches of PSL 2026, following confirmation from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, extending an earlier decision that permitted fans for the final.
Naqvi shared the update after securing approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, confirming that crowds will be present for all three playoff fixtures.
“Just had a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and I’m pleased to share that we have secured his approval for public attendance in all three PSL playoff matches as well,” Naqvi posted on X on Monday. “However, this comes with an important condition from his side that fans are strongly encouraged to use public transport or minimise fuel consumption while attending the matches, in line with the ongoing national austerity efforts.”
Decision Extends Earlier Approval
The announcement follows Naqvi’s statement on Saturday, when approval was granted for spectators to attend the final scheduled for May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Until now, the entire league stage of PSL 2026 had been conducted behind closed doors as part of fuel-saving measures introduced by the government of Pakistan amid the ongoing West Asia crisis. The tournament was also scaled back from its original six venues to just Lahore and Karachi.
Playoff Schedule Confirmed
The decision was made shortly before the Qualifier between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in Karachi, with preparations underway regarding ticketing and match-day arrangements.
Eliminator 1 is set to be played in Lahore on Wednesday between Multan Sultans and Hyderabad Kingsmen. Eliminator 2 will follow at the same venue on Friday, featuring the loser of the Qualifier and the winner of Eliminator 1.
