Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s dominant win over Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026 brought notable changes to both the Purple Cap and Orange Cap standings. After bowling DC out for just 75, RCB’s bowlers made significant gains, while Virat Kohli also climbed the run-scoring charts despite a low-scoring match.
Purple Cap
Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered an outstanding spell, finishing with figures of 3-0-5-3, with all three wickets coming during the powerplay. His performance played a key role in RCB’s nine-wicket victory with 81 balls remaining and propelled him to the top of the Purple Cap table.
He now has 14 wickets, level with Anshul Kamboj and Eshan Malinga. However, his superior average of 16.85 puts him ahead of Kamboj (16.92) and Malinga (18.21).
Krunal Pandya also made progress, picking up one wicket to enter the top ten among wicket-takers. He has nine wickets, tied with Kartik Tyagi, Jamie Overton and Vaibhav Arora, but ranks higher due to a better average of 26.55.
Josh Hazlewood contributed significantly as well, taking three wickets in the powerplay alongside Bhuvneshwar, reducing DC to 13 for 6 — their lowest powerplay score in IPL history. He added another wicket later to finish with figures of 3.3-0-12-4, moving his tally to eight wickets and placing him just outside the top ten.
Orange Cap
Virat Kohli moved up to fourth in the Orange Cap standings after scoring an unbeaten 23 during RCB’s chase of 76 in Delhi. His innings also saw him become the first player to cross 9,000 runs in IPL history.
Kohli now has 351 runs at an average of 58.50 and sits just six runs behind Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The Rajasthan Royals batter, in turn, is one run behind KL Rahul.
Rahul scored 1 in the same match but moved up to second place with 358 runs at an average of 51.14.
The Orange Cap race continues to be led by Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma, who tops the chart with 380 runs at an average of 54.28.
