Pakistan men’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has expressed satisfaction with the progress made during the ongoing training camp at the National Cricket Academy, as the team prepares for the upcoming ODI series against Australia.

Speaking in a video shared on his official Instagram account, Hesson emphasised the value of the camp in evaluating players and strengthening team cohesion. The camp has brought together both experienced internationals and emerging talents, providing an opportunity to assess performances and integrate new players into the setup.

“It feels good to be back in Pakistan. We are playing a warm-up match in the white-ball camp, and it is a great opportunity to work with both new and experienced players,” Mike Hesson said.

“I have not spent much time with some of the new faces, so this camp is valuable for getting to know everyone. I also enjoyed watching the PSL, where several talented new players have emerged,” he added.

Hesson also addressed the challenging conditions in which the squad is training, noting that the team has adapted well despite the intense heat.

“The conditions are very hot here, with temperatures around 43 degrees, but the players are training well and adapting strongly. We have also set up short boundaries on one side, which will present an interesting challenge for the bowlers,” Hesson stated.

Reflecting on his return to Pakistan following recent health issues, Hesson highlighted the importance of preparation and building combinations ahead of the series.

“Personally, it is great to be back in Pakistan after some health issues before my return. Overall, we are preparing well for the upcoming series against Australia and looking to build strong combinations,” he concluded.

The ongoing camp has been organised as part of preparations for the three-match ODI series against Australia, scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from May 30 to June 4. All matches will begin at 4:30 PM local time, with the toss set for 4 PM.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, the National Cricket Academy coaching staff are working alongside the national team management to oversee player development during the camp.

Australia’s tour will mark their first ODI visit to Pakistan since March and April 2022, when Pakistan secured a 2-1 series victory. Earlier this year, Australia toured for a three-match T20I series, where Pakistan completed a 3-0 sweep at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
