Sri Lanka secured the T20I series against Bangladesh with a composed 21-run victory in the second match in Sylhet. A disciplined bowling effort, backed by sharp fielding, kept Bangladesh under pressure throughout the chase, leaving them well short of the target.
After opting to bat, Sri Lanka posted 154 for 4 in their 20 overs, with Harshitha Samarawickrama once again leading the scoring. She made 49 off 29 balls, striking six boundaries, including two sixes, to anchor the innings.
Samarawickrama, who had also scored a half-century in the opening T20I, combined with Nilakshika Silva to add an unbeaten 61-run stand for the fifth wicket. Silva contributed 22 not out, while captain Chamari Athapaththu chipped in with a brisk 42. Sri Lanka built their innings steadily, scoring 35 runs in the powerplay before adding 69 in the middle overs and 50 in the final phase.
Bangladesh Fall Short in Chase
Bangladesh began their chase with a steady powerplay, but Kavisha Dilhari provided the breakthrough by dismissing Dilara Akter for 23. Juairiya Ferdous added 29, but the hosts struggled to build partnerships.
Sharmin Akhter stood out with an unbeaten 44 off 47 balls, but lacked support from the rest of the batting lineup. Bangladesh also suffered three run-outs during the innings, further denting their chances.
Dilhari played a key role with the ball, finishing with figures of 2 for 15, while Sri Lanka’s fielding efforts ensured regular setbacks for the hosts.
Bangladesh ended on 133 for 5, falling 21 runs short as Sri Lanka sealed the series with a game to spare.
