Bhuvneshwar Kumar has surged to the top of the IPL 2026 Purple Cap table following his fifth three-wicket haul of the season. While the Orange Cap standings saw minimal change, Virat Kohli strengthened his hold on fourth place and Shubman Gill moved up to fifth after the latest round of matches.

Both Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru featured several contenders in the race for the season’s top individual honours, and their clash on Thursday led to notable shifts in the bowling charts, even as the batting list remained largely stable.

Purple Cap

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s latest spell of 3 for 28 propelled him to the summit of the wicket-takers’ standings. This marked his second consecutive three-wicket performance and his fifth such haul this season, taking his tally to 17 wickets.

He now leads while second-placed Eshan Malinga of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who sits on 15 wickets and remains in contention, has an opportunity to reclaim the top spot in upcoming matches.

Kagiso Rabada, Gujarat Titans’ pace spearhead, had a chance to challenge for the lead but managed just one wicket in the game. He is currently tied in third place on 14 wickets alongside Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer and Chennai Super Kings’ Anshul Kamboj.

Orange Cap

The Orange Cap standings saw no major reshuffle, as none of the leading batters posted a standout performance. Virat Kohli’s 28 and Shubman Gill’s 43 were solid contributions but not enough to alter the top order, while Sai Sudharsan added just 6.

As a result, the top three remained unchanged, with Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad occupying the first two spots, followed by Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. All three are the only players to have crossed the 400-run mark this season.

Kohli retained fourth place with 379 runs, while Gill’s innings helped him move ahead of Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul into fifth position.
