Australia’s men’s team will tour Bangladesh in June for a six-match white-ball series, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is spread across 13 days.

The ODI leg of the tour will be held in Dhaka on June 9, 11, and 14. The series will then move to Chattogram for the T20Is, scheduled on June 17, 19, and 21. Match start times are yet to be finalised, with the possibility of day games due to ongoing energy-saving measures in Bangladesh linked to fuel shortages caused by the West Asia crisis.

Similar adjustments were made during Bangladesh’s ongoing series against New Zealand, where match timings were brought forward to reduce reliance on floodlights.

Australia Return for Rare Bangladesh Assignment

This will be only Australia’s second bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh, following their five-match contest in 2021, which the hosts won 4-1. In the ODI format, Australia have not toured Bangladesh since 2011, having previously visited in 2006.

Mitchell Marsh currently leads Australia in T20Is, while Pat Cummins holds the ODI captaincy. However, Marsh has recently captained the side in ODIs as well, with Cummins having featured in only two matches in the format since the 2023 World Cup final.

Key Part of Australia’s ODI World Cup Build-Up

Ahead of the Bangladesh tour, Australia are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series in Pakistan, which is expected to overlap with the closing stages of the IPL. Those matches, followed by the Bangladesh ODIs, mark the early phase of preparation for their title defence at the 2027 ODI World Cup in southern Africa.

Australia also have ODI series lined up later in 2026 against Zimbabwe (away), South Africa (away), and England (home).

Start of New T20I Cycle

The Bangladesh T20Is will be Australia’s first series in the format since their exit from the T20 World Cup earlier this year. It also signals the beginning of a new cycle that includes the 2028 Olympics and the 2028 T20 World Cup, which Australia will co-host alongside New Zealand.

Bangladesh’s Upcoming Tour to Australia

Bangladesh are set to tour Australia later in the year for a two-Test series in August, with matches scheduled to take place in Darwin and Mackay.
