The Orange Cap standings in IPL 2026 changed hands twice during a run-heavy clash between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur.

It turned into a memorable night in the Orange Cap race, with Mitchell Marsh and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi both producing standout innings in the RR vs LSG match. By the end of the game, Sooryavanshi had moved to the top of the run-scoring chart.

Marsh, who was not close to the top of the run-scorers’ list a week earlier, continued his remarkable form with 96 off 57 balls against Rajasthan Royals. That knock came after scores of 111 and 90 in two of his previous three innings, taking him to 563 runs for the season and briefly pushing him to No. 1.

His effort was a crucial one for Lucknow Super Giants, helping them reach 220 for 5 in what has otherwise been a difficult season. However, Marsh’s time at the top did not last long.

That was because Sooryavanshi responded with the kind of innings he had not produced since April 25, when he hit 103 off 37 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur, even though RR lost that match. This time, he made 93 off 38 deliveries, and Rajasthan Royals won a game they needed to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Sooryavanshi’s innings began more slowly than usual. He was 25 off 16 balls after eight overs and had found Mohsin Khan especially difficult to get away. But once the big shots arrived, the momentum shifted quickly.

He reached his half-century from 23 balls, which was still not among his quickest fifties, before launching sixes across the ground. Two came in the ninth over against Akash Singh after he had managed only two until that point. He then struck one off Digvesh Rathi, two off Prince Yadav, two more against Mayank Yadav, and another off Rathi.

By the time Mohsin dismissed him with a slower delivery, Sooryavanshi had hit ten sixes in the innings.

At the close of the match, Sooryavanshi was leading the Orange Cap table with 579 runs. Marsh followed in second place with 563. Behind them were Monday night’s table leaders: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen with 555 runs, Gujarat Titans’ B Sai Sudharsan with 554, and his opening partner Shubman Gill with 552.

Purple Cap Leaderboard

Prince Yadav, Lucknow Super Giants’ most successful bowler this season, went wicketless for the third consecutive match and remained on 16 wickets.

Jofra Archer, however, dismissed Ayush Badoni in the first innings, taking his season tally to 18 wickets and moving him into fourth place on the Purple Cap table.

The top three remained unchanged. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar stayed first with 24 wickets, followed by Gujarat Titans’ Kagiso Rabada on 21 and Chennai Super Kings’ Anshul Kamboj on 20.
