Australia legspinner Alana King has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Women’s ODI bowling rankings, just four days after slipping to second place.
King’s rise follows her standout performance in the third ODI against West Indies, where she claimed 5 for 19. The effort saw her move ahead of England left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone to return to the top spot.
She finished the three-match series with six wickets at an average of 17.66, ending as the second-highest wicket-taker as Australia completed a 3-0 sweep. Her performances also lifted her to seventh in the ODI allrounder rankings, moving past Nat Sciver-Brunt.
New Zealand Players Make Gains
New Zealand’s Maddy Green and Amelia Kerr also made significant progress in the latest rankings update after their side secured a 2-1 ODI series win over South Africa at home.
Green, who topped the run charts in the series with 239 runs at an average of 119.50, climbed four places to reach a career-best ninth position among batters, with a rating of 642.
Kerr also moved up the batting rankings, rising six places to joint 14th after scoring 215 runs across the series. Her highlight was an unbeaten 179 off 139 balls in the second ODI, helping New Zealand complete a record chase of 347 — the highest successful run chase in women’s ODIs.
Kerr’s All-Round Impact
Kerr contributed with the ball as well, taking four wickets in the series, including two in the decisive third ODI. Her figures of 2 for 37 played a key role in New Zealand’s 66-run victory, which sealed the series after they had fallen behind 0-1.
The latest rankings update reflects strong performances across recent bilateral series, with players from Australia and New Zealand making notable gains.
